Handmade Mexican Folk Art Papier Mache & Oil Cloth “Artist” Doll & Her Painting

Traditional Mexican folk art doll handmade in various dresses and clothing representing trades and culture

This one appears to be an Artist doll holding her painting of flowers to her chest (it is attached by a thin yard stitch)

Materials are oil cloth for hands and feet, painted papier mache for head, and multicolored fabric for handmade clothing

She has long black braided pigtails & wears a shirt, skirt, and long white pants as well as tan leather sandals—clothing is attached with straight pins—one pin head is a little rusty as shown in one photo

Painted on face with big eyes with an expression common to these dolls

10 1/2” tall & partially jointed—she weighs 5.5 ounces

These dolls were often made for the tourist trade and are usually considered vintage
