Rare antique Mughal-style Moorish curled-toe shoes, hand-crafted and hand-stitched, in maroon velvet with intricate gold bullion embroidery and accents. These 19th-century slippers, likely custom-made, are inspired by traditional Mughal royal court designs and symbolize wealth and high fashion. Known as Salim Shahi shoes, they feature upturned decorative toes and for their age and delicate nature, are likely better suited for display/decor purposes rather than wear.
The soles are hand-stitched leather, and the shoes measure approximately 10.5” long by 2.75” wide, fitting a women’s size 7 (tested for reference). They are in very condition for their age, with minor oxidation and small losses to the metallic elements, along with some scuffing on bottom from what was likely limited wear time.
This museum-quality pair is perfect for collectors or Renaissance enthusiasts!
